Eric Klapper was appointed Executive Director in November 2016 after serving as Tapestry’s Chief Operating Officer since 2011. As Executive Director, Mr. Klapper, working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees, is responsible for creating and driving the strategic vision for the organization. Mr. Klapper guides growth in all areas including organizational expansion, development and community relations, and academics to meet financial objectives while fulfilling the mission.
Prior to joining Tapestry, Mr. Klapper worked as a consultant for The Whelan Group, a private consulting firm in New York City providing strategic management and advisory services to not-for-profit organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations (“NGO’s”) and schools throughout the country. Mr. Klapper also served as the Director of Development for ACE Programs for the Homeless in New York City. Mr. Klapper has lived in Nairobi, Kenya where he spent time working as a project manager evaluating new safari sites for accelerated community-based eco-tourism.
Mr. Klapper earned a master’s degree in Business Administration & Management from The Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School at the University College Dublin in Ireland and a BA in Sociology, Government & African Studies from St. Lawrence University.
