Fred Carstens has been one of the Co-Principal’s in the high school since 2018. He first joined Tapestry in 2008 teaching 9th grade Global History and Geography. He spent 8 years in the classroom, and advised several extracurricular clubs and organized domestic and international trips for students. In 2016, Mr. Carstens briefly left Tapestry and took an Assistant Principal position at another local charter school. He has a Master’s degree in Advanced Inclusion Processes, and a MSEd certification in School Building Leadership from St. Bonaventure University. He also earned a Bachelors in Science for secondary education in Social Studies from Buffalo State College. Mr. Carstens is a United States Marine Combat Veteran who served in both Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Outside of work Mr. Carstens enjoys spending time with his family, bow hunting and ice fishing.
