COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Dear Tapestry Family,
As the end of the year starts to wind down and we look forward to reopening Tapestry in the fall, there remain many questions unanswered and many of our plans yet to be finalized around exactly what school will look like.
Understandably, Tapestry’s school leaders and I have been receiving many inquiries and questions about our plans for reopening and our common refrain has unfortunately been “we just don’t know yet”. If you have gotten the chance to know any our school leaders well, you’ll know that saying those words is extremely difficult for them. We are planners, we are strategists and we want to make educated projections based on data for the future because we know that when it comes to our work, the funny details count as much as the larger sweeping vision.
We are currently awaiting further guidance from the New York State Education Department on the regulations and requirements they have said they will release before the month’s end. To begin to get feedback on our current draft plans from our families, teachers, health care professionals before this new guidance is published would be imprudent. And so, we remain very eager to hear from the State.
Here’s what we can share:
- The health and safety of your children has always been, and will remain our highest priority. We will comply with all health and safety standards and will build plans to ensure that students, families and staff feel safe and secure.
- Our current plans exist in three broad categories: a) full “bricks and mortar” school reopening with all students back in-school on Great Arrow Avenue; b) full remote/online learning with all students accessing schooling online using technology from home; c) various hybrid models of in-school and remote learning.
- Looking ahead, we will be prepared to see aspects of each of these plans and will plan for the rapid transition or pivot from one plan to another, if necessary throughout the school year.
When we have more information from the State, we look forward to sharing these plans with families, students and staff, hearing from you and getting your feedback so we can move forward together as a school community.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any of our school leaders directly.
We are crew.
Thank you,
Eric Klapper
