COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

April 16, 2020

Dear Tapestry Families,

We have two important updates to share with you today:

Today, Governor Cuomo announced he will be issuing an Executive Order extending mandatory closure for all New York state schools to May 15, 2020.

Additionally, this week Governor Cuomo also signed Executive Order 202.17, which requires everyone ages 2 years and older to wear a mask or cloth to cover their nose and mouth in public when not practicing socially distancing.

Remember that we are all in this together, and together we will see this whole ordeal through.

I have to tell you, we have been so incredibly proud of the work that your children have been doing under these new and unique circumstances.  And we know that we owe you all, as parents, great affirmation for being partners with us in setting up structures for remote learning at home.  Thank you.

Next week, students in grades K-5 will propel themselves from their academic packets, live Crew meetings and grade-level homepage academic activities and transition to remote learning through Google Classroom.  The K5 instructional team is prepped and ready to be there for you and your children and address any questions or concerns you’ll have during this transition.

Our MS and HS students will be moving into their fifth week of academic instruction and remote learning through Google Classroom and virtual Crew meetings next week, and the work completion rates that we have been tracking on a weekly basis have been absolutely phenomenal given the obstacles we have been facing and the circumstances we find ourselves in.

Our award-winning food service department will continue to prepare fresh, healthy and free meals to all Buffalo children aged 18 and under and will continue to operate Tapestry’s Drive-Thru Meal Program at 111 Great Arrow, Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm.

We have a long road ahead of ourselves before we’re out of the woods, but please know that your Tapestry family is here for you every step of the way.

We are crew.

Thank you,

Eric Klapper

Executive Director
