Ms. Smerda joined the Tapestry community in 2018 as the 8th grade consultant teacher. In 2019, she transitioned roles and became the 8th grade Humanities teacher. Ms. Smerda is also the Middle School Student Government Co-Advisor. In 2015, Ms. Smerda graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies Education from Buffalo State College. She returned to Buffalo State for her graduate work and received her Master’s Degree in Special Education in 2018. Ms. Smerda is certified to teach Social Studies, grades 5-12, and Special Education, grades 7-12. When not in the classroom, Ms. Smerda enjoys going to Buffalo Sabres games, baking, traveling, playing with her dog, and spending time with her family and friends.
