Madeleine CallananGr. 4 Teacher

While the 2019-2020 school year marked my first year working at Tapestry, I have been a member of the Tapestry crew for much longer! My family joined the community when my brother joined the first Tapestry class of second graders when the school opened in 2001. A few years later, I started as a Kindergartener in Ms. Gina’s class and happily stayed until graduating in 2015. After high school, I moved to Saratoga Springs for four years to attend Skidmore College, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education Studies and Anthropology. I graduated in 2019 and promptly returned to the Tapestry community as Teaching Partner. In 2020 I began my graduate studies at Buffalo State in Urban Education. I am excited to be a lead 4th grade teacher for the 2021-22 school year.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, cycling, and cooking. I grew up riding horses across the street from Tapestry and I was a member of the (national champion!) varsity riding team at Skidmore. I am still involved with horses as a therapeutic riding instructor. I love spending time with my friends, family, and my cat Caster. I believe that children have a right to an education that builds on their strengths and supports them in becoming active, kind, informed citizens. I am thrilled to work at a school that makes my dreams reality!
